Cast in Netflix Series 'Van der Valk'

Hello from Antwerp, Belgium where we are filming the Dutch Netflix Series 'Toos' (Van der Valk). Going back in time to the eighties. Don't you just love the woollen clothing and big curly hair hairdos? I certainly do!

The series 'Toos' tells the true based story of the 1982 kidnapping of Toos van der Valk, the wife of Dutch hotel magnate Gerrit van der Valk. Italian gangsters knew the family had lots of money, so they wanted to capture Gerrit, but instead found his wife home alone, and kidnapped her instead. They demanded 12 million Dutch guilders for her release. Forcing the family into a difficult predicament.

The series explores the tense, behind-the-scenes negotiations with the Italian captors and the family’s struggle to meet the captors demands while promising not to involve the police.

Van der Valk Hotels

The ‘Van der Valk hotels’ are a known hotel chain in the Netherlands, founded by Gerrit Sr, who gave each of his children and hard working family members, their own hotel to manage. The hotel imperium spread out all across the Netherlands. I play the cousin of Toos and Gerrit Van der Valk, who owns and manages her own hotel together with her husband.

Directors of ‘Into the Night’

I was excited to work with Directors  Inti Calfat en Dirk Verheye, because they previously directed the English spoken Netflix Series ‘Into the Night’. In Into the Night, survivors trapped on a night-time flight race against the rising sun — because daylight itself has suddenly become fatal. That series was really beautifully made, so I couldn’t wait to work with them.

The series is produced by Submarine, an international production company with offices in Amsterdam, London, and Los Angeles. The screenplay is written by Carl Joos and Maaik Krijgsman.

Toos is expected to appear on Netflix in the Netherlands in 2026.
